A flat cowboy arrived at our house yesterday, all the way from San Antonio, Texas! The kids wanted him to join them for breakfast, so we set him up on the table with his own pancakes - and as he's quite flat and doesn't stand well on his own, we propped him up against a cactus there. Cactuses - cacti?? - are the only sorts of plants that survive in this house because the cats aren't quite silly enough to try eating them. Usually.
If you're wondering what on earth a "flat cowboy" is... Have a look at the wikipedia entry for Flat Stanley. :-)
This one is a flat cowboy because, of course, he's from Texas!
A family from Homeschool Spot created some Flat Cowboys and when they asked who would like to host one, we offered, and he arrived yesterday, all tucked safely in a big brown envelope. The kids think he's pretty cool and have been making suggestions for where we could take him for some good photos and journaling to send back with him when he returns home.
It's still partially winter here, so unfortunately we won't be able to take him to the beach or out Cavendish way, but there's still lots of places to go and things to do for him to have some interesting trip mementos to take back to his owners. :-)
Now, I still have painting to do. Cuz I got lazy last night. :-P
